Kevin's Software Engineering History

Kevin has been performing custom software engineering for various customers for about 35 years.

  • C++ 24 yrs.
  • C# 8 yrs.
  • SQL 9 yrs.
  • ASP.NET 8 Yrs.
  • AJAX 3 yrs.
  • Silverlight 2.5 yrs.

Recent web based application designs included but are not limited to audio and video survellence software. However the market became dominated by government entities which couldn't decide, had no money and by the time they did decide it was 2 years out of date. Hardly a sustainable market place.

So the focus shifted to web based applications and learning the latest Microsoft technologies. Visual Studio 2005 came out and ASP.NET 2.0 was finally usable for major web sites. So we engineered 7 web sites, complete with Ecommerce backends. Along with support for club/orginization web sites.

The experience of working at Microsoft taught me some very serious engineering practices. All I can say is it is cool to have my code shipped in Media Center Vista and Win7. In the summer of 2010 Windows Mobile should ship and have some code I authored.

While at Microsoft I became President of .Net Developers Association of Redmond. Recently Alan Hord and myself have started the Silverlight Developers Association.

Today I'm using Microsoft Expression Suite, "Silverlight 3.0", ASP.NET 3.5...etc. My goal is to become a Silverlight expert and master Silverlight Animation.
